Rabeca and mamulengo maker from Pernambuco, Brazil.

Biu de Dóia is a simple farmer from the countryside of Pernambuco who became a master in the rabeca and maulengo art. He taught himself how to build a rabeca and how to play the instrument as well.
His passion for mamulengo creation comes from his childhood, when he used to watch local mamulengo performances.

Mestre Biu de Dóia received us at his house with his wife, son, and grandson to show us his workshop and tell us about his story.
